Day 2 TAICHUNG!!! ZHONG SHE FLOWER FARM,XIN SHE CASTLE AND RAINBOW VILLAGE

I am excited to blog about our day 2 trip because day 2 is all about Taichung and it has 3 of my most favorite places in Taiwan!!! ZhongShe flower farm,Xin She castle and Rainbow Village! I will do my best to keep it as detailed as possible to help you all plan out your itinerary but should you have other questions,Please feel free to leave a comment here or shoot me an email ishilubrico@gmail.com.

I guess you can say that I got extremely lucky cos one of my co trainers Edward, flew to Taiwan months before we did so he gave me tips on where to go,the night markets to check out and the best food to try while in Taiwan!

Since Taichung was also part of their itinerary,he advised me not to travel by land from Taipei since getting there would take at least 2-3 hours.I did my research and we ended up purchasing High Speed Rail Tickets from Klook which is about PHP896 per way.It is a little pricey but the good thing about taking the HSR is the fact that it would save you a lot of time! It took us only 45 minutes getting to Taichung from Taipei vice versa!By the way, If you are to buy the ticket in Taipei Main Station, you will end up paying P1195 per way so it's best to buy it from Klook! You can save at least PHP600!

For our Taichung trip,we decided to book a tour guide since we wanna make sure we get to go in all three places.I consider myself extremely lucky having found our tour guide Jane via Trip Advisor! One of her previous clients highly recommended her because she speaks great English, she's very accommodating and she didn't charge much!

Jane happens to own a RAV4 that her husband drives so we didn't have to worry about commuting from one place to another which is super convenient because there’s no MTR system in Taichung just yet! I also just wanna put it out there that getting Jane is the best decision I made for this trip cos not only were the places far from each other but she is also the best tour guide there is! While on the road, she would educate us about Taiwan's rich history, she was kind enough to prepare chips for us to munch on,tissues to use throughout the trip and unlimited bottled water! She is super patient and she takes a lot of great photos too! She would even suggest poses :P She's super cool guys so i suggest you contact her if you are flying to Taiwan soon!Given all of these things, she also doesn't charge much! She even added another location even if we only asked her to tour us to three places..She took us to Taichung Theatre and dropped us off at a night market in Yi Zhong since we had time to spare before our HSR departs.

I suggest to NOT EVER miss out on going to Taichung if you are to fly to Taiwan because it's so beautiful. We took a lot of photos but i'll just share a few of my favorites.Scroll down below to see the photos we took in Taichung! Let the photos do the promo ;)

Rainbow Village (Free of charge)

Ever since i learned that this super colorful village was single handedly painted by a 90 year old man  (affectionately called Grandpa Rainbow by the locals)  to save their community from being demolished,I  have made this place numero uno in my bucketlist! We were super lucky cos on the day we visited this place, Grandpa Rainbow was there and we got to meet him in person and take photos! It made this trip twice as meaningful just being in the presence of a wonderful, talented and big hearted fella like Granda Rainbow!  Sharing our photos below:

Grandpa Rainbow! He's sooo cute!

Day 1 out of 4 TAIWAN

So I have been getting a lot of requests to post my detailed DIY Taiwan itinerary ever since I posted it on DIY so i thought i'd blog about it.

To be honest,I never had TAIWAN listed on my bucket list but the fact that it's no longer VISA FREE for Filipinos starting July 2019 got me frantically searching for cheap flights! I remember booking this flight 25th of September with zero knowledge about this country.Let me just tell you though..This is one of the BEST spontaneous things I have ever done in my life!

December 15

📍Taoyuan Airport
📍Zhong Zheng district
📍Shillin Night Market
📍Ning Xia Night Market

So I got to book this trip with 2 of my work friends,Ysa and Memshie Cy which was super exciting because it's Memshie Cy's first out of the country EVER!It was a milestone for Ysa as well because this is her first out of country that isn't a family trip!

Since it's already the last month of the year, ubos na leaves namen so kahit na our flight is scheduled to leave at 7:25 am,we still went to work the night before 😭.Nakakatawa the plot twist ma share ko lang,I was on my way to work when I received a tweet from MCA Universal that I won Alesso VIP passes for me and 4 of my friends na may meet and greet pa!So before i went to work,Nag XYLO muna kame.Only stayed for a short time because I still have to go to work.Hay.Such a tita na :P

Anyway, We left Alabang around 4 in the morning and it took us 20 minutes via Skyway to get to Terminal 3.Sobrang haba ng pila papasok pa lang so make sure u allot extra time going to the airport kasi we saw a number of people who had to rebook cos they failed to make it on time :(Actually muntik na rin kame di umabot kasi ang daming pila from checking in to immigration. They were calling the last few passengers na when we got inside the plane pero Thank u talaga kay Papa Jesus kasi umabot kame!

We arrived at Taoyuan airport around 10 in the morning and if i remember it right, temp is at 14° so it was kinda cold in Taipei.First thing we did after getting our passports stamped was to look for the place to claim our pocket wifi from, which we bought via Klook for only 85 pesos/day!Super convenient & reliable kasi kahit na sa countryside na kame, super fast pa rin yung connection.Mabilis nga lang sya ma-lowbatt (I'd say mga 4-5 hours lang pag fully charged) so make sure that you have a power bank if you'll be out the whole day.The booth is located near the right exit (Unite Traveller counter 3)

Super cool structure of Taoyuan Airport

Taoyuan Airport

We opted to take the bus cos there is no assurance that we'd be able to get seats if we were to take the MTR which was actually a good decish kasi the escalator leading to the bus station is just right in front of the wifi place. We decided to stop by 7 11 which was located right by the end of the escalator and we pretty much grabbed a handful of chips and sandwiches because we are super hungry! The chips were to die for.Actually sa sobrang sarap, yun na rin yung pinasalubong ko for my family :)

Pretty Ysa at 7 11

Get this guys! Sobrang sarap :)

We took bus number 1819 bound to Taipei Main Station since that's where our hotel is located. Took us about almost an hour getting to Main Station then from there tumawid lang kame and naglakad about 5 minutes to get to our place.Memshie Cy's hotel is about 4 buildings across the street so every morning,we would meet up at Family Mart right in front of our hotel which is Morwing Fairytale to have breakfast.Memshy Cy is not staying with us kasi she decided to go to Taiwan with us 3 weeks after we already booked our flights and accommodations kaya by that time, sold out na yung Morwing but thankfully we found a place super close from us.

By the way, I super recommend that you booked Morwing Hotel because of three things:First, they have a Fairytale theme on each floor and each room! Super cute like for instance, our room is located on the 5th floor and the theme is Alice in Wonderland! Pero pag pasok mo, it's Tangled so being that I am such a frustrated Disney princess, Natuwa ako ng malala!

We got Alice!!!

Look at our floor's wall :)

Second reason why I highly recommend staying at Morwing is because it's budget friendly! We only paid PHP8692.35 for a total of 3 nights and 4 days na sya tapos since there's two of us parang tig PHP1448.73 lang kame per day.Kumpleto yung toiletries, okay yung aircon, super linis as in kahit di ka mag request to have your room made up,they would change the towel, replenish the toiletries and clean the room everyday!

Tangled!

And Third,It's walking distance from Taipei Main Station so it's super easy to get to places like on our second day,We went toTaichung and in 5 minutes nasa HSR na kame. When we booked the Yehliu,Shifen and Jiufen day tour, the KKday bus pick up/drop off point is right outside Taipei Main Station lang din kaya di kame nagmamadali masyado. It's super convenient!Andun na rin yung mga bus stations/MTR going to airport so it made our lives extra easy!

I will also blog about our Taichung and Yehliu trip so stay tuned! For now I'll share some photos from our Day 1 trip.

After dropping off our bags and freshening up, We started our day 1 walking around Zhong Zheng district (the area where our place is located)  to try to blend in with the locals. There's a stall that sells pepper cakes/pepper buns so we got to try that for 50NTD ,right next to it is a strip of milk tea shops for just 50NTD lang din kaya super enjoy kame! For dinner, we went to 2 night markets, One at Shillin and one at Ning Xia and we got to try their famous and super yummy sausages,Beef cubes, stinky tofu, strawberry shake and Japanese cake.Enjoy!

P.S Feel free to leave comments should you have any questions :)

You'll find tons of toy grabber claw machine arcade everywhere!

My friends tried Stinky Tofu! I couldnt take the smell
